Officially founded in 2005, the Houston Area Papillon Club (HAPC) exists to promote the Papillon
breed, to educate the public on the breed and responsible pet
ownership, and to encourage the public to participate in AKC
events. Our membership is comprised of long time breeders, exhibitors of
conformation, agility, and obedience, AKC judges, professional
handlers, and pet owners.
We meet once a month to plan activities, discuss the breed,
as well as have a social hour. Outside of our monthly meetings,
we have numerous scheduled events that we plan and/or
participate in. Below is a description of some of the activities
we regularly plan. . .

BUTTERFLY BASHES:
One of the activities that we regularly plan are Butterfly Bashes,
which are get-togethers for Papillons and those who love them.
Several times a year, someone from our Butterfly Bash list
will volunteer their yard so that anyone with a Papillon can
come over and give their baby the opportunity to socialize with
other butterflies. The dogs have an amazing time and the people
have an opportunity to talk to others who are just as obsessed
with the breed :-) If you have another dog whose about the size
of a Papillon, they are welcome as well.
Butterfly Bashes are
open to anyone who has an interest in the breed. You do not need
to be a HAPC member to attend a Butterfly Bash. Therefore, we
have a separate mailing list which we use to send out
announcements for upcoming Bashes.
If you are interested in attending a Butterfly Bash, e-mail Ana Slabic:
AnaPap@aol.com
with your full name and e-mail address (if you don't have an
e-mail address, provide a telephone number)

FUN MATCHES: For those interested in showing
their Papillons in conformation, we also have fun matches
(pretend dog shows) to help each other learn to show and to
offer an opportunity to train our next HAPCfuls. Usually,
instead of ribbons, we award really great prizes such as bowls,
toys, grooming products, and/or Sherpa type bags.
SEMINARS: We hold seminars on topics such as: grooming, breeding, training, showing, etc. Generally
these seminars are held during official club meeting times, so these events are open only to HAPC members.
