WHITE & BLACK
The white and black Papillon is a white dog with solid black spots on the body and head.
There are no hairs of any other color.
It is possible for a w/black to show reddish undertones in its coat.
These undertones are normally visible in certain lighting conditions, such
as sunlight. Sun exposure will make the red undertones more pronounced. So
how can you tell the difference between red hairs and red undertones? When
you look at the Papillon, if the hair appears to be solid red, from root to
tip, it's not a w/black Papillon. However, if the hair appears black
(perhaps from a distance) but seems to have a reddish or brownish cast to
it, it's probably a w/black Papillon with reddish undertones. Also, if the
reddish color appears more pronounced in the summer months, it's more than
likely that it has red undertones. This phenomenon is seen a lot in black
horses who appear brown in the summer and then darken again in the winter.
